In this article, Dr. Marina Treskova and colleagues discuss three major roles epidemiologists can play in strengthening societal efforts to counteract climate change. First, they emphasize the importance of measuring, attributing, and predicting the impacts of climate change on human health. This includes elucidating the spatial and temporal distribution of effects and inequalities within populations. Second, they highlight the need for developing and rigorously testing climate change adaptation interventions across societal sectors. Finally, they stress the importance of understanding and quantifying the health-related risks and benefits of climate change mitigation actions.
