Luise Nottmeyer, PhD candidate researching antimicrobial resistance (AMR), participated in the 8th Environmental Dimensions of Antimicrobial Resistance Conference (EDAR 8), held from 2–7 August 2026 at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre in Brisbane, Queensland.
The conference, hosted by SAAFE (Solving Antimicrobial Resistance in Agribusiness, Food and Environments), brought together researchers from around the world to share insights on One Health AMR and consider collective and collaborative ways to respond to the threat of AMR.
During the conference, Luise presented a poster outlining her work on global evidence mapping and meta-analysis on the impact of plastic pollution on medically important antimicrobial resistance in the environment.
Reflecting on the event, she noted that several conference speakers emphasised the need for greater use of modelling to better understand the environmental dimensions of AMR-an important research gap that Luise’s research seeks to address.
